A look back at a few of the pivotal stages of my “What I Know Now” piece. I find the initial underpainting shockingly resembles Rue McClanahan.

Here’s a few of the progress shots along the way for this piece. I had SO much fun doing this. One of those rare paintings where you never want it to be finished.

Here’s a look at my somewhat baffling process for this piece -which will be my and Andrew Degraff’s show at Gallery 1988: LA this January! You can see the few times where my idea for the finished piece changed. This is how I learn.

Well I’ve been suspiciously quiet lately, haven’t I? But now we DANCE!ALL NEW WORK in a tasty new 2-man show from myself and the insanely talented Andrew Degraff!!If I may say, we’ve put together quite a delightful bit of completely new work- even managing a collaboration piece between the two of us. I’m very very very excited for this show. You be too.. so we can be excited together.Show opens Jan. 5th!! (Save the date. SAVE IT!)

Here’s my contribution to “The Old School Videogame Show: Level 2” at Gallery 1988. I had a Tremendous amount of fun painting this one. This is my tribute to one of my favorites, and arguably the best videogame of the 3D generation -“The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time”.

“HEY! LISTEN!” Here are a few progress shots for a piece depicting one of the greatest videogames played by man. I can only pray this painting does it a respectable amount of justice.

A photo sent to me by a local patron at last May’s Disney/Marvel’s “Assemble” show at Gallery 1988 in LA. That’s my painting on the left, and that’s “Avengers” writer/director/45th President Joss Whedon to the right. OH LAAAWD! *holds hand against forehead and faints*

“Slice of Fried Gold”Bennett SlaterOil on Wood18” x 24”My contribution to Gallery 1988’s legendary “Crazy 4 Cult” show, taking place this year in New York City! This piece is a love letter to the 3-man british giggle sandwich of Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, and Edgar Wright. For this one, I’ve made a concerted effort to compose a portrait, without providing a specific face. From the items included, most characters should be accounted for, while telling a bit of the story along the way. Ok, bye bye byyye!
